Construction teams generate vast amounts of data. Programmes are updated, milestones are tracked, resources are allocated, costs are recorded. The data exists. The challenge — consistently and across the industry — is turning it into clear, actionable intelligence that reaches the right people at the right time.
In this joint session, Acumine's Daniel Maddocks and the team at Elecosoft demonstrate how Asta Vision and Acumine's Build Intelligence platform work together to close that gap — transforming planning data into instant, portfolio-wide insight that enables smarter decisions, faster outcomes and greater confidence across an organisation.
The problem with planning data in isolation
Asta Vision is where programmes live. It is where planners build and maintain the schedules that govern project delivery — activity sequences, milestones, resource allocations, baselines and revisions. For planning teams, it is the system of record.
But planning data in isolation has limits. Project leaders need portfolio visibility. Commercial teams need programme context alongside cost and change data. Leadership needs a consistent view across projects that does not depend on a planner manually exporting, formatting and distributing reports.
That is the gap Build Intelligence is designed to fill. Rather than replacing the planning process, it connects to Asta Vision — alongside other project and business systems — and surfaces the intelligence that already exists within the data, at portfolio scale, in Power BI.
Instant-on reporting: from planning system to Power BI
One of the core demonstrations in this session is what Acumine calls instant-on reporting. Pre-engineered connectors for Asta Vision and Asta PowerProject mean there is no custom build required to get planning data into a reporting environment. Acumine connects to the planning data, standardises it through Microsoft Fabric, and has Power BI reporting live rapidly — without requiring planners to change how they build or maintain programmes.
The reporting patterns that result are consistent across projects. Portfolio overview, project summary, Gantt views, S-curves, milestone tracking, lookaheads, schedule health checks and activity status — all standardised, all updated as the planning data changes, all accessible without a manual export cycle.
Portfolio-level visibility: from KPIs to live project detail
The session explores what genuinely collaborative workflows look like in practice. Leaders can start with a portfolio-level KPI view — which projects are tracking, which are drifting, where milestone risk is building — and drill through to the live project detail behind the numbers without leaving the reporting environment.
That shift matters. When senior leaders can access the same data as planning teams, in a format designed for decision-making rather than schedule editing, review meetings change. Less time is spent explaining the data. More time is spent acting on it.
Schedule health and data quality
The session also covers data health best practice — one of the areas where Build Intelligence adds significant value beyond simple reporting. Schedule quality checks flag logic gaps, missing constraints, activities without successors, and other structural issues that can undermine the reliability of programme reporting. Treating schedule health as a live, visible metric — rather than a periodic audit — changes how planning teams and their stakeholders relate to the data.
Good data in means trustworthy insight out. That is the foundation on which everything else — S-curves, milestone tracking, slippage analysis, resource demand — depends.
Scalable governance: bridging operational delivery and strategic oversight
The session closes with a look at how connected planning and analytics are reshaping portfolio governance in construction and infrastructure. Real-time dashboards that bridge the gap between operational delivery and strategic oversight are no longer a future ambition — organisations using Asta Vision with Build Intelligence are operating this way today, across clients including Kier, Wates, McLaren Construction, Willmott Dixon and Robertson.
The opportunity is significant for Heads of Planning and Delivery, Programme Directors, CIOs, Transformation Leaders, Commercial and Finance Directors, and Project or Programme Managers who are looking to future-proof their portfolio management through smarter data and reporting.
