Ynomia: Precast Manufacture Performance Intelligence for a Tier 1 Contractor

YnomiaOffsite ManufactureDaluxPower BI

Background

15,000 precast components across nine factories. No shareable view of progress.

Ynomia is a construction and supply chain management platform designed to track and report on the progress of off-site fabricated elements — precast concrete, modular assemblies, cladding and glazing, M&E, pods and more. It builds a digital record of every building component as it moves through Design, Manufacture, Logistics, Construction and Handover, giving delivery teams a live picture of where each unit is in its journey.

A leading tier 1 contractor adopted Ynomia to deliver a major offsite programme — over 15,000 precast concrete components and circa 90,000 subcomponents manufactured across nine factories. The contract demanded close monitoring of offsite activity and a reduction in the operational inefficiencies that come with a fragmented supply chain: duplicated inspection visits, demurrage and delay costs, inertia in production rates and limited transparency over stock in the supply chain. The aim was to track every component from design to installation without creating new data silos, changing established working practices or relying on manual manipulation. But the platform's native reporting could not be shared beyond a small licensed group of users — so the contractor engaged Acumine to build the reporting layer that opened it up.

01

No commercial API at the time

When the work began Ynomia had no commercial API, and delivering a solution also required working knowledge of the Dalux Build API. Getting the data out into a governed reporting environment was a genuine technical challenge rather than a simple connection, and one the contractor had no way to solve with the tools available to it natively.

02

Ynomia and Dalux data lived apart

Ynomia could not integrate with Dalux itself, yet both held part of the picture — Ynomia tracked component progress across the manufacturing lifecycle while Dalux held the vesting and quality data critical to a precast operation. Without a way to bring them together, no single view of manufacture performance existed.

03

Specialist data capability to bring in

Building the integration and reporting layer called for specialist data engineering capability that sat outside the project team's day-to-day focus — so Acumine brought it in and stood the solution up alongside them, extending what the team could deliver. The planned baseline — the PCE (precast element) delivery programme — was held in a highly complex Excel structure that had to be carefully manipulated before the planned numbers could be imported and compared against actual delivery.

04

Native reporting could not be shared

Ynomia's in-built dashboard gave good real-time visibility to the people who had access — but the user population was small, constrained by licence costs and the number of seats available, and the graphical reporting could not be made view-only or exported. Senior project leadership, who needed oversight of a process critical to the project's success, were effectively shut out.

What Ynomia and Dalux held

A rich component-level record — locked inside two disconnected tools.

Between them, Ynomia and Dalux recorded a detailed, structured picture of the precast operation — every unit's progress through the manufacturing lifecycle, the planned delivery programme it was measured against, and the vesting and quality data that governs a precast supply chain. Acumine connected to Ynomia's internal API and the Dalux Build API, brought the two together into a single governed model, and surfaced them in Power BI.

Component progress

Every unit tracked from design to installation

Ynomia held a digital record of each building component as it moved through design, manufacture, logistics, construction and handover — with its identifications (label, checklist number), current status and the dates it passed through each process stage. This unit-level history was the backbone of all progress reporting, allowing delivery against plan to be measured component by component.

The delivery programme

The planned PCE baseline, extracted from complex Excel

The precast element (PCE) delivery programme defined the planned number of units by type and phase, but it lived in a highly complex Excel workbook. Acumine handled the one-time upload and transformation of this data so the planned numbers could be imported cleanly and used as the baseline against which ordered, delivered and installed units were compared.

Vesting & quality

Dalux vesting data brought into the same view

Dalux held the vesting records for the operation — confirmation that units had been vested, a step that matters in a precast operation for quality control, production efficiency and cost management. By connecting to the Dalux Build API, Acumine surfaced vesting alongside Ynomia progress data so both could be monitored from one place for the first time.

The solution

A four-page Pre-Cast Dashboard, fed by an automated Azure pipeline

Acumine built a Pre-Cast Dashboard in Power BI, supplied by an Azure data pipeline that pulled component progress from Ynomia's internal API and vesting data from the Dalux Build API into a single governed model. The report gave far wider access to the precast manufacture operation — letting project teams and senior leadership monitor the manufacturing process that was critical to the project's success, without being constrained by Ynomia licence seats.

The dashboard could be filtered by manufacturing supplier and unit type throughout, letting every view be focused on the specific factories, unit categories and phases relevant to the question being asked.

01

Progress Tracker

An S-curve graph tracking what was delivered against plan over time, alongside an overall count comparison of the original PCE programme units against what had been ordered, delivered and installed. The view broke the numbers down by unit type and could be filtered by manufacturing supplier or unit type — giving delivery teams and leadership an immediate read on whether the offsite programme was tracking ahead of or behind plan, and where.

02

Data output table

Direct access to the core data of every unit — its various identifications (label, checklist number), current status, and the dates it passed through each process stage. This gave the team a searchable, filterable register underpinning the headline progress numbers, so any individual component could be located and its manufacturing journey inspected without going back into Ynomia.

03

Checklist summary

A consolidated view, by unit type, of the checklist numbers and their relative percentages — turning the raw checklist records into an at-a-glance summary of how each unit category was progressing against its quality and process checkpoints, and where completion rates were lagging.

04

Vested (Dalux data)

A dedicated page, driven by the Dalux Build API, helping the team track which units had been vested. Because vesting matters in a precast operation for quality control, production efficiency and cost management, surfacing it alongside progress data gave commercial and delivery teams a single place to monitor vesting status across the programme.

Outcomes

Precast manufacture visibility that Ynomia alone could not share

Critical reporting reached the people who needed it

The Pre-Cast Dashboard broke the constraint that had shut leadership out of Ynomia's native reporting. Progress and vesting data that had been visible only to a small, licence-limited group of users could now be shared with project teams and senior project leadership as always-current, view-only reporting — giving oversight of a process central to the project's delivery.

A single view of delivery against plan

The Progress Tracker's S-curve and count comparisons gave the programme one authoritative picture of the original PCE plan against units ordered, delivered and installed — filterable by supplier and unit type. For the first time, teams could see at a glance whether the offsite programme was on track and which factories or unit types were driving any slippage.

Ynomia and Dalux, finally in one place

By bringing Ynomia progress data and Dalux vesting data into a single model, the dashboard removed the gap between two tools that could not talk to each other — letting quality, production and cost oversight sit alongside progress in a way neither platform could deliver on its own.

Automated visibility instead of manual inspection

Achieving the same assurance manually would have meant a full-time alliance team carrying out 100% checks on every unit — on the order of 4,500 inspection hours and around £650k of additional cost, with the associated rise in CO₂ emissions. The dashboard delivered the oversight through an automated pipeline, without new data silos, changes to working practice or manual manipulation.

Technology

Ynomia and Dalux data engineered for shareable reporting in Power BI

The solution connected to Ynomia's internal API and the Dalux Build API through an Azure data pipeline — using Azure Data Factory and Databricks to ingest, transform and combine component progress, the PCE delivery programme and vesting data into a single, governed model. Power BI delivered the four-page Pre-Cast Dashboard, with filtering by manufacturing supplier and unit type and regular refresh keeping it aligned with the live position across the offsite programme.
