Australian Centre For Field Robotics
The Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) is a Commonwealth Key Centre of Teaching and Research and is associated with the University of Sydney's School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering. As of 1st January 2003 ACFR also became part of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence in Autonomous Systems, resulting in $10 million funding over five years.
The ACFR has a strong research and development program in mining automation technology, both as part of CRCMining, and through direct government and industry funding. The ACFR has developed considerable expertise and intellectual property associated with the application of engineering and field robotics in the mining industry. The fundamental research outcomes of the Centre in the minining area is commercialsed through Acumine.
